General Information:

The Garden Grove Motel was operated by Norm Oliver and his family in the early days. It was a trailer court and motel that started out as 2 cottages in the 1930's. It was later expanded to 18. It was said the neon sign was the highest in Upper Michigan. The last mention I found in the newspaper archives was from 1976. Norm also owned the Nor-Mad Motel.

The cabins were gone by the early 1980's and the motel building lasted until the 1990's when it was razed. It probably operated under a different name for a while. There is an apartment building near the site now that sort of looks like a motel but as far as I know it wasn't affiliated with the Garden Grove.
