Established in 1967 by the catering king Sammy Lieberman. I grew up in the subdivision behind this place. I worked here making 2 bucks per hour after lying about my age. I think I was 15 or so and worked assisting the chefs. That was good money for a kid in those days. One of my jobs was serving the roast beef with au jus with our white gloves on. The chef would make a grand entrance into the ballroom and flame it up for the folks waiting to eat.
This place hosted parties and weddings and wasn't a restaurant per se. Eventually, part of it was converted to a dance club. I recall the FBI searching the dumpsters after Jimmy Hoffa disappeared from Machus Red Fox a few miles down the road. Clearly they never found anything.
It also hosted quite a few shows in the parking lot in the summer, most notably a GM dealer show. You could sneak in and get some free food and drinks. Also check out the latest cars coming out. Fun times. Hopefully I'll find a historical photo of it at some point. Like most things in Southfield, this place was eventually wiped out to make room for another nondescript office complex. I found an article from 1988 that mentions this. So, it lasted about 20 years.
