There isn't a ton of information on this old bar/restaurant other than it was active in the 1980's. Some musicians that I found online recalled they had played there. I love the cheesy control tower motif which is related to its proximity to the airport. Or was it a lighthouse?
The structure next door looked like a motel to me but apparently it was not. It was once used as a medical/office building. As of 2024 you can see the entire site was cleared. There is a Dollar General sitting on the lot where Sky McFly's was. There was also a Family Dollar integrated into the Sky McFly's structure in the past which is visible on the street views also.
Message board post from empire drum on drumforum.org:
Sky McFly's in Kinchloe, MI. (Out of business) The only reason for the town and the bar was that there was a closed Air Force Base turned into 5 separate prisons there. The only people in the bar were off shift Prison Guards, people with family in prison, and a few native Americans from the nearby reservation. There was a pool table behind the stage, and when somebody would break, they would inevitably jab you in the back with their back stroke. [section deleted] I left out that it was early December in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the actual temperature outside was -40 degrees F, with a windchill of -60.
