Update 1/29/2025: I found a postcard of a restaurant called Brissette's and after some digging determined it was the precursor to Lutz's. An article about a lawsuit over a life insurance policy for the original owners indicates the place was purchased on land contract by Rudolph Lutz. The building was then remodeled somewhat after that. You can spot what is now the laundromat on the Brissette's postcard. It was a Mobil Gas at the time and had the distinct cylindrical section of the building that Mobil stations had at the time. The original Brissette's building was destroyed by fire in 1998 but Lutz rebuilt after that. However, THAT rebuilt Lutz's no longer stands either.
It seems from the historical aerial photography the restaurant sat where McLaren lab is now. That was the restaurant portion seen in the 2008 street view. The Citgo station mentioned on the postcard was next door. As for the motel, I figure it was the structures behind the restaurant seen in the 1992 shot, next to the gas station, or, it could have been what is now Edmond's Au Gres Inn across the street. I will need to research this more.
