This one gets a bit confusing. This place (hotel, restaurant, garage, Chevy dealership) was apparently on US-23 and was once operated by Russ Schafer who bought it back in 1928. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Bublitz took it over at some point until 1947 when it was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alley. It was a restaurant that also had a hotel and perch dinners were featured here going back to the 1920s. There was also a mention of the "New California Inn" which implies it moved at some point.
I found the following streets mentioned in different time periods: US-23, 141 State Park Dr, and 141 N Henry Rd (later Val's) which don't really line up as of 2025. Did the addressing scheme change? Did the restaurant move? Was one of those locations in Bay City and not Pinconning? I don't know yet but I will find out eventually and update this listing.
