This opera house goes back to the 1884. It sat next to the old Hotel Farr which was on the corner of Chicago Rd and Matteson. The founder of the opera house, Milo Clark, died suddenly in 1885 after suffering a hemorrhage of the lungs after a performance. Additionally, a welder perished due to a ladder giving way while leaning against a cornice of the old opera house in 1949. At that time it was being used as an auto dealership. Both the hotel and opera house are long gone.
