Ensign today is mostly empty except for a few houses. The aerial photos from the 50's show more but I couldn't find the cabins/gas station pictured in the postcard. The mailing address is Rapid River so I used that as the city.
From Michigan Place Names:
This village in Masonville Township was first settled by Edward P. Bennett about 1880 and named by him for the national emblem. Given a station on the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie Railroad in 1888. Cyrus Dunbar became its first postmaster on Sept 18, 1890. The office was closed on May 9, 1894, but was later restored and has been operating since. [Mrs. Blanche C.
