Milliken's go back to the 1930's or before. Their main location was in Traverse City but they later opened up in Manistee as well in 1964. The Manistee store did well for a while and was expanded in the 1980's. We all remember Bill Milliken who was once the 44th governor of Michigan. He ran the store for a while in the 1940's. The store in TC lasted until about 1993 from what I can gather from the news articles. I remember seeing it many years ago as I frequently traveled up there.
